BindingOriginal cream paper-covered publisher's boards printed in black with Egyptian designs. The boards are beveled; the covers and first few leaves are detached.

Edition EvidenceThe chromolithographic title lacks a “SECOND EDITION” statement and matches the 1858 first edition.

Collation and ConditionThe owner reports the collation as 1–72, 81–128, 113–121, 130–136, [24] pages, with three of five plates present. The Memphis and Bastion plates are lacking. Tears affect the fore-edges of pages 28, 86, and 127; one further fore-edge chip and staining to the lower free endpaper are reported. Condition is described as fair.

Concluding LeafThe illuminated concluding acknowledgments and production colophon is present and dated August 3, 1858. It is part of the published volume and does not supply ownership evidence.
