BindingOriginal brown paper-covered rear board with gold decoration. The original front board was already missing by 1977. The volume was resewn and rebacked in 1978 with a plain brown spine, reusing the earlier endpapers.

Edition EvidenceThe chromolithographic title lacks a “SECOND EDITION” statement; the illuminated dedication and facsimile leaves match the 1858 first edition.

Ownership EvidenceNo inscription, bookplate, stamp, annotation, or other mark names an individual owner within the extended Longfellow family.
