BindingOriginal cream pictorial boards, retained. The front board carries the standard gilt-and-black sphinx medallion within a lotus-and-hieroglyph border; the rear board carries a matching hieroglyphic and lotus-and-ankh design. The volume is now housed in a later quarter morocco protective case.
Edition EvidenceThe title page carries no date or "Second Edition" statement, consistent with the 1858 first edition. Lilly Library staff independently identify the volume as a first edition in their own catalog record.
