Ownership Evidence‘g. of Dr. John Logue, 7/84’ records a July 1984 gift. Villanova professor John J. Logue is the probable donor; the identification lacks a direct accession record.

Signed Philadelphia Binding

The Pawson & Nicholson binder’s stamp survives. The binding postdates the 1859 material within the volume; its exact date is unrecorded.

Extra-Illustrated Material

An engraved Humboldt portrait, facsimile of his March 12, 1859 letter with English translation, and contemporary newspaper notice are inserted. The letter names the three authors, Wilhelm von Humboldt, and ‘Doctor Brugsch,’ and credits Morton’s pictures.
