Unrelated Auction Reference Found with the Volume
An American Book Prices Current clipping kept with C026 describes an entirely different copy: an 1859 second edition in original cloth, with a title leaf and six inserted plates, retouched in watercolors by Henry Morton in 1895 and inscribed by him. The clipping records Swann Galleries, April 15, 1982, lot 171, sold for $850. It does not describe C026 and is not evidence of this first-edition copy’s provenance.
